Let's Talk About Hard Work
Why some traders progress faster than others

Let’s talk about hard work. ~ 5 min read
“Everyone is on a different timeline.”
This is a saying I often refer to when traders come to me wondering why they aren’t progressing as quickly as some of their peers. It's difficult to get to the root of most traders issues because they are usually so unique. As I work with more and more traders, one thing has become increasingly clear: everyone has a different definition of “hard” or “efficient” work. Some people work 18 hours a day on their craft.. but it's inefficient. Some work 5 hours a day but it's inefficient. The key is to utilize time in a way that works for you- but only you know your limitations.
Hyper Blocks
Personally, I’m limited to about 5 hours of deep focused work- and now I’ve built a framework around it, to share with you. I call them Hyper Blocks. Hyper Blocks are what you make of them - maybe you are limited to 3 hours or maybe you can handle more. It doesn’t matter- be consistent with it and be committed.
A Hyper Block is based on the notion that the majority of us suffer from distraction filled environments and our attention can only be held for so long on any one given thing. Make sure you plan your sessions ahead of time so you don’t spend all your energy trying to figure out what you’re going to focus on.
Create a distraction free environment
The idea is to remove all distraction - leave your phone in another room or somewhere out of reach and put it on DnD (do not disturb.) Close all windows on your computer that are not relevant to what you are foc using on. You need to set yourself up for success. Time is extremely valuable - it’s important you work hard during this allocated time with structure and diligence.
Once you’re ready you simply use this distraction free environment to study, complete a task for work, or build a framework out for you trading. For instance- there are four pillars to technical trading: Market Direction, POI selection, Entry, and Management. For one or two full weeks, 4 hours a day you set your Hyper Block focus to one of the pillars and then move on to the next one. Allowing yourself the time to slowly understand the complexities of each component without burning out. This is the primary reason for Hyper Blocks. Efficient work without risk of burnout.
Those who master time allocation tend to succeed much faster than those who don't
The best thing about Hyper Blocks is when you’re done, you’re done. The idea is to remove yourself from this intense focus and do other things with your time. You’ve done the necessary, efficient work. Reward yourself and your mind. Come and back for the next Hyper Block with a full tank and an engaged mind.
I hope you enjoyed the first iteration of my newsletter. It’s a bit of a brain dump but if you found value in this one stick around for more.
Journal Your Trades
Every successful entrepreneur monitors their KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) -- These are the metrics that tell you whether you are profitable or not and what areas you need to improve in. I've built a beefy Notion template to help you journal your trades. Track your KPIs as well as your daily, weekly, monthly, annual performance. I've also included an End Of Day Markup tool to help you define your edge or keep your edge sharp, if you've already got on. Grab it below. For reading this far and trusting me with your time I'm taking 20% off.
